   Regular Share Accounts
Membership begins when you open a share account. The basic savings account is also the shares of ownership you have in the Credit Union. Opening a minimum $25.00 share account offers full membership privileges and qualifies you for all other Credit Union Services. All regular Share Accounts receive very competitive monthly dividends. Dividends are calculated by the daily balance method, which applies a daily periodic rate to the balance in the account each day. Dividends will begin to accrue on the business day you place cash/noncash items (for example, checks) to your account. The par value of a share is $5.00. This is not a transaction account, so no more than 6 withdrawals or transfers to another credit union account of yours or to a third party by means of a preauthorized or automatic transfer or telephonic order or instruction can be made. The dividend rate and annual percentage yield may change every month. The Board of Directors sets the rates.

   Christmas Club Accounts
Join the Christmas Club program which begins November 1 each year and earns an annual dividend. Deposits can be made by check, cash, or payroll deduction. You can add to the account any time during the year, but once withdrawal is taken, the account closes for that year.

   Special Club Accounts
Special Accounts are exactly like a Share Account. Dividends are paid monthly to this account. Please refer to the Share Accounts section for more information on this account.

   Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA's)
A Traditional IRA is a special tax deferred savings plan authorized by the Federal Government to encourage you to accumulate money for retirement. We offer Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA's) for your long-term, personal retirement savings, including Traditional, Roth and Education IRAs. All type IRA dividends are calculated by the daily balance method, which applies a daily periodic rate to the balance in the account each day and is paid quarterly to your retirement account. The dividend declaration date is the last day of the dividend period. If you close your account before the dividend is paid, you will not receive your accrued dividends. IRA’s are tax deferred until withdrawn. You may withdraw funds from your IRA at any time; however, early withdrawal penalties may apply. A small annual maintenance fee is the only fee charged. All IRA’s are federally insured up to $250,000 by NCUA, separate from your other Share Accounts.

   Roth IRA Accounts
A Roth IRA is an individual retirement account to which participants are able to make annual non-deductible contributions. Unlike a traditional IRA in which your earnings are tax-deferred, Roth IRA earnings can be tax-free. You may convert your traditional IRA to a Roth IRA, provided you are a Single filer or married couple filing jointly with a modified adjusted gross income that does not exceed $100,000. Any portion of the converted amount attributable to deductible contributions and earnings must be included as taxable income. The entire taxable amount of the conversion must be included as income for the year the conversion is made. To receive more information on Education IRA’s, please contact the Credit Union. Qualified distributions may be withdrawn tax and penalty free. Non-qualified distributions may be taxable and subject to an IRS 10% early distribution penalty. To receive more information on Roth IRA’s, contact the Credit Union. All type IRA’s dividends are calculated by the daily balance method, which applies a daily periodic rate to the balance in the account each day. The Roth IRA dividends are paid quarterly on the last day of the quarter. Withdrawals made before quarter end will not receive a dividend. All IRA accounts are charged a small maintenance annual fee.

   Education IRA Accounts
Unlike traditional and Roth IRA’s, Education IRA’s are not tools for retirement savings.. They are designed solely to help pay higher education expenses. Because the purpose of an Education IRA is so different from traditional and Roth IRA’s, the advantages are also unique. Earnings on the funds in an Education IRA will be tax free if they are used to pay for higher education expenses before the designated beneficiary reaches age 30. The earnings are taxable to the designated beneficiary (not the responsible individual or contributor) if they are withdrawn for any other purpose. An Education IRA encourages a regular savings program for a child’s education. Persons, such a grandparents, can fund this type savings and in many instances, funds can be moved from one family member’s account to another’s. Contact the Credit Union for more information. Again, Education IRA dividends are paid quarterly. Monies withdrawn before quarter end do not receive a dividend on the withdrawn portion.

   Share Certificates (CD's)
Share certificates are similar to bank's Certificate of Deposit (CD). If you want a higher dividend rate and do not need immediate access to your funds, then share certificates are for you. Credit Union Share Certificates are federally insured by NCUA up to $250,000. The minimum balance to open a certificate account is $1,000. Dividends are calculated by the daily balance method, which applies a daily periodic rate to the balance in the account each day. Dividends will begin to accrue on the business day you place the funds in your account. Certificates are offered for three different terms: 6 months, 1 year or 2 years. Dividends are credited to your Share Account semi-annually. Early withdrawal penalties may be imposed.

       Share Secured Loans
Share secured loan means that money in your Share Account is used as collateral on your loan. While you will continue to receive Dividends on your Shares and/or your Certificate, your loan interest rate will be lower than the standard consumer rate. As you make your payments, your Shares will be released. The principal balance of your loan will be the amount of Shares that is pledged on your loan.

If for any reason you request that your Shares be released before the loan is paid, your interest rate will be raised to the Signature Loan interest rate. This is a nice loan if you decide you do not want to withdraw your Shares. Many times you think you will repay the Shares you withdraw, but most times a person doesn’t.

The rate for this type of loan will be 2.00% higher than the rate of the Regular Share accounts. If the Share rates fluctuate, the Share Secured Loan rate will follow.

       Share Draft Checking
A share draft account works much like a checking account. Open your account with $50.00. This covers the expense of your first draft order. After that, there is no minimum balance or per check charge. No matter how many drafts you write, the monthly service charge is only $2.50 per month.

If you qualify for a draft account, you may be able to have an ATM card at no additional charge. If you are eligible for an Instant Cash & Check Card, there is a $1.00 per month charge. Ask a staff person for more information on this service.

You will be sent a monthly statement. Draft accounts receive a .25% dividend. Dividends are compounded daily and paid monthly on the last day of the month.

Students with a student ID and seniors who are 62 years or older are not charged the monthly fee. Shop around and you will see this is a very competitive account. Remember, all Credit Union share accounts are federally insured to $250,000 by NCUA.

Securely, order your liberty checks on line, by clicking here.

Instant Cash (ATM) & Check Cards (VISA)
The Instant Cash (ATM) & Check Card is a debit card. If you like using plastic to pay for goods rather than charge your purchases, this may be the Credit Union debit card to carry. It can be used as an ATM card, too. It’s two cards in one!

The debit card accesses the funds in your Share Draft account, without the hassle of writing checks. These shirt pocket share drafts work like credit cards without creating a debt. You can still use it as an ATM card to withdraw from your Share Draft or Share accounts.

When you buy something with a debit card, money is automatically subtracted from your Share Draft account. Your monthly Draft statement provides a record of all your purchases. There is a small $1.00 per month service charge for this card.

This debit card is available upon credit approval. The debit card is accepted anywhere you see the VISA DEBIT logo displayed. For more information, please call the Credit Union.

       Direct Deposit
Direct Deposit trims your To-Do list. We are a nation 'on the go'. There’s work time, fitness time, child time, spouse time, parent time, friend time, and, if you are lucky, some quiet time. Even retirees say, "I've never been busier in my life".

Wouldn’t it be nice to worry about one less thing? Try Direct Deposit. With Direct Deposit you authorize your employer or federal agency, like the Social Security Administration, to deposit your check directly into your Credit Union account. You can count on access to funds without visiting the Credit Union. Instead of a check, you receive a paper record of the transaction. Employers, for example, provide an earnings statement on payday showing net deposit and how much was withheld for taxes or any other withheld amounts.

Direct Deposit delivers Internal Revenue Service tax refunds to accounts of both electronic and non-electronic tax filers. To cut at least a week off your refund time, request Direct Deposit by using your Credit Union routing and transit number, your account number and type of account where indicated. No matter where your check is coming, Direct Deposit takes the worry out of:
  • Stolen or misplaced checks. Direct Deposit eliminates those risks.
  • Delayed deposits. Your funds are deposited regularly and on time.
  • Losing potential dividends. With Direct Deposit you earn dividends on funds as soon as possible.
  • Waiting in long lines to make a deposit.

  • Take advantage of the convenience and security of Direct Deposit .

       Payroll Deduction
Payroll Deduction is a very convenient way to save or repay a loan. Why not pay yourself first? Payroll Deduction is a great way to start a regular savings program. Set aside a little every payday and before long your savings will grow into a nice nest egg. If you don’t see it, you probably won’t miss it.

Your payroll deduction can be set up to pay on your loans. You can split your loan payments so the whole amount won’t be deducted from one check. This helps when doing your budget.

Your payroll deductions can be directed to any Credit Union account you desire. Many members set aside certain funds every payday into their children’s accounts. This is a sure way of providing a better future for your family.

       Wire Transfers
If you need to send or receive funds quickly, your Credit Union provides wiring service. It is important to have the proper wiring instructions. The following steps will outline the exact procedures necessary to wire funds in or out of the Credit Union:

    WIRE IN PROCEDURES:
Contact the financial institution that will be wiring your funds to the Credit Union. They will need to know our Credit Union’s information:
    1. Credit - TSCCU Helena, MT ABA# 292 081 248.
    2. Further Credit - EnerGComm FCU Butte, MT ABA# 292 976 984.
    3. Final Credit - Member's CU account number to receive the funds.

Financial institutions usually have a cut-off time for wiring. Please check with that institution to make sure the money will be wired and received the same day. It is best to wire funds early in the day. There is no charge for Wire In service at the Credit Union.

    WIRE-OUT PROCEDURES:
If you would like to wire transfer your funds to another financial institution, you must first contact them and ask for their wiring instructions. It is important these instructions are correct. There is a $6.00 Return Fee for incorrect wiring information and your wire could be delayed a day.

If the amount to be wired is under $5000, the cut-off time is 2:30 PM MST; if the amount is over $5001, the cut-off time is 12:30 PM MST. This assures you same day service. You can still call the wire into us after these times, but they will not be wired until the following day. There is an $15 Wire Out Fee for this service. The fees could vary if wiring to another credit union.

       U.S. Savings Bonds
EnerGComm FCU sells and redeems U.S. Savings bonds. Series EE savings bonds are a popular gift purchase for birthdays, holidays and other special events. Gift certificates are available and are especially useful for the last-minute gift situations when there is not enough time to permit delivery of the bond prior to the special event.

New Series EE bonds, those issued beginning in May 1997, earn 90 percent of 5-year Treasury rates. This means savers are rewarded with higher rates right from the start! This encourages investors to save for longer term goals like education or retirement. To encourage investors to hold bonds and still keep them one of the most liquid investments around, a 3-month loss of interest will apply to bonds cashed in before five years. This means if you decide to cash a bond after 18 months, you'll get 15 months' worth of interest. Once a bond is five years old, there is no penalty. This assures longer-term bond holders, they will benefit from higher 5-year rates over the full life of the bond.

For current rate information call 1-800-4US-BOND (1-800-487-2663) or check out the web site at this address: http://www.savingsbonds.gov. If you have any questions about our Savings Bond program, please call the Credit Union.
